Writing is a chore that can make months, years or decades of your life. So, with that said: celebrate the small victories that you’ve accomplished.
Did you finish that chapter that was giving you trouble? Celebrate! Did you figure out how to resolve that plot point that was driving you nuts? Celebrate! Did you finish the first draft? CELEBRATE!
But, don’t stop writing! Just because one step is done doesn’t mean you’re done! Keep going! Don’t loose steam or hope!
I celebrate all sorts of small things with my friend, who also happens to be a writer. I’ll send her messages like “Just reached 50k! Yeah!” If I get my daily goal, I’ll message her. If she reaches her goal – we celebrate, because it’s important!
Writing isn’t a sprint. It’s a marathon, and to do it properly, you’ll need to take your time. Because of how long it takes, celebrate.
